    BEST SUSPENDERS FOR EDC/CC, January 22, 2016

I was in the market for a new set of suspenders for my EDC items (flashlight, holstered handgun, extra mags, knives, multi-tool, etc.). I use a thick gun belt and the traditional clip on suspenders were tearing my pants and would not easily attach to belt without popping off (usually at the most inconvenient times). I hoped online to see what other options there were and came across these that use a J-hook to secure to the belt. Even with a kydex reinforced Wilderness Belt it was able to attach easily. These suspenders are comfortable even with almost 4 lbs. of weight on the belt itself. That is great. I mistakenly ordered the tan color and am actually happy I did. They look better and show less through thinner shirts.

I love, love these suspenders. I actually want a belt AND suspenders. The suspenders that hook directly to the pants usually have teeth like those on a Florida alligator, which tend to tear the pants. Since these suspenders ‘hook’ under the belt, the position of the front straps can be adjusted along the belt by several inches. They also slip on and off the belt easily but are still secure during use.The suspender straps are also wide enough that they are very comfortable to wear. I’m a relatively young guy in good shape (32″ waist) recovering from a pinched nerve, and I was told to use suspenders and loosen the belt. I am more comfortable now, and I use the suspenders under an untucked outdoor style shirt. I think I’ll keep using the suspenders afer full recovery. Someone commented they were afraid the front straps would fly-up and hit them in eye. I always hook the front straps first so there is no tension on them, and then I hook the back strap last. *** I am fully recovered and still using the suspenders. I actually own several in different colors.***

Great suspenders but required tweaking, February 2, 2016

After recently loosing 35 lbs, I found myself constantly pulling up my pants and getting stomach aches from cinching my belt too tight. Rather than going for a new pants ($$$$), I decided to give these a try. I haven’t wore suspenders since boyhood but I remember not liking them as they were always slipping off my shoulders. For that reason, I bought the long/tall ones thinking the rear strap would be longer and the Y-section would closer to my shoulders. Not the case. Instead the front straps were longer, putting the adjusting buckles directly over my shirt pockets. Not a big deal but they still slipped off the shoulder. I am 5′ 11″ and have A-frame shoulders, so I solved that problem by having my wife sew a strip of elastic across the Y just below the back of my collar.

The belt clips are sturdy but will fall off when dropping your pants unless you use a heavy duty (1/8″ thick) work belt. The rear one straddles the belt loop on the back of your pants, while the front ones must go on the outside of the loops. If you try to put them to the inside, they will pull the belt up off your pants in the front. Not all my pants have the same front positioning of the belt loops, so these suspenders work better with some than others. I wish the front hooks were the same as the rear one. The adjusting buckles eventually slip when moving around a lot. The elastic doesn’t seem to be stretching out and does the job well. No more droopy pants and stomach aches.

Bottom line, excellent quality but less than expected design, so -1 star for the slipping buckles and the non-straddling front belt hooks.
